We are committed to the planet and the safety of your order, focusing on a practical, tidy aesthetics over fancy presentation. Your item will arrive packaged using predominantly recycled cardboard. We prefer this method because it is environmentally friendly and allows us to create custom-fit packaging that holds the product tightly. This prevents items from rubbing, bending, or being damaged during transit, ensuring your piece arrives in great condition.
We partner with select retailers, visitor centres and galleries who share our values around craftsmanship and design. If you’re interested in stocking our range, please reach out via our Contact page.
Powder coated items should be wiped regularly. For outdoor pieces, an occasional clean and inspection will help maintain their look over time. Weathering steel is quite tough, a clean with a broom, wet brush or even a light pressure wash on occasions will reduce staining from nature ie falling leaves/bird droppings and pesky spider webs.

Weathering steel is a type of high-strength, low-alloy steel that develops a stable, protective "patina" of rust-like iron oxide when exposed to atmospheric conditions, eliminating the need for painting. Unlike mild steel, the ‘rust’ does not penetrate any deeper, therefore the surface layer actively protects the steel from further corrosion. The patina creates a warm, rust-like appearance that seals itself over time, providing strength and corrosion resistance. You often see weathering steel in architectural and industrial applications such as buildings, road screening and bridges where low maintenance and a natural, rustic appearance is desired.
We go to great effort to pre-weather our stock items, but occasionally, due to availability, some products may be sent in raw steel (grey in colour). Don’t worry — weathering steel is designed to rust once it’s exposed to moisture, which is exactly what it’s designed to do.
Each piece is unique. Variations in tone and texture are part of the natural oxidisation process and depend on the steel’s source, age, and weather conditions during pre-weathering. Colouring can vary from raw steel (grey with orange spots - the start of the rusting stage) to bright orange and varying shades of brown. Eventually ALLl weathering steel products, when left to nature's elements, will age to a deep golden brown.
Rusting begins quite quickly once exposed to moisture, but it can take up to 18 months for the surface to fully self-seal. Climate and exposure to rain, humidity or wet/dry conditions will affect how fast the patina develops.
Lightly mist the surface with water daily to encourage an even rusting effect. Rust forms more quickly when the piece is lying flat or exposed to wet/dry conditions. If the surface of the patina is scratched, the steel will continue to oxidize and form a new protective layer, allowing it to self-heal.
In the early stages of weathering, until the patina stabilizes, rust run-off and residue can occur on contact surfaces such as walls, tiles or concrete. To protect surfaces, we recommend using standoffs for wall-mounted pieces and placing garden items on tiles or pavers to prevent staining.
You can't fully stop weathering steel from rusting, as its intended purpose is to form a protective, stable rust layer (patina) over time. You can slow the rusting process by keeping your product in a dry area, with low humidity. Further, if you prefer a raw steel look, applying a product such as Penetrol (available from hardware or paint stores) every six months or so. It applies a clear protective coating that penetrates the steel to help prevent moisture and oxygen from developing.
Absolutely. Our products can be displayed indoors or outdoors, however the majority of our customers purchase our pieces for display in their garden spaces. Weathering steel is perfect for outdoor conditions. Once the steel has sealed, it forms a protective deep brown rustic layer that’s ideal for display in gardens, courtyards, or exterior walls.
